A Brief History

In 1959, Francis Ross Clark, Sr., became the first salesman of tube holders used on automated tube filling machines (Reicholders). These holders were manufactured by Gus Reichert who designed and developed them after working on tube filling machines in the Colgate Palmolive plant.

Francis Ross Clark, Sr., worked with Gus Reichert and recommended his son, Ross Clark, Jr. III as salesman. Ross became familiar with the industry and added Code Dating Supplies to his sales line: including Inks, Type (steel and rubber), Printing plates and Coding Equipment. F.R. Clark developed these lines over the next 10 years, during which time, he developed his own line of Bottom Coding Equipment and Case Coding Equipment. In 1972, he incorporated under the name: Packaging Machinery and Equipment Company.

By the late 1970’s, the company was not only selling Reicholders, but they were manufacturing their own line of Code Dating Equipment and servicing the industry with Rebuilt Packaging Equipment. It was during this time that Francis’s son, James Lyle Clark, became involved with the company, bringing his mechanical experience into this field.

In the 1990’s, Packaging Machinery and Equipment Company purchased Coding Corporation of America and placed all Code Dating Equipment and supplies into this end of the company and renamed the company Coding Corp USA.`Packaging Machinery and Equipment Co., developed it’s own line of Cartoning Equipment for the Packaging Industry as well as continuing to rebuild used equipment.
